American Standard Version (ASV)

The American Standard Version of 1901 is an Americanization of the English Revised Bible, which is an update of the KJV to less archaic spelling and greater accuracy of translation. It has been called "The Rock of Biblical Honesty." It is the product of
the work of over 50 Evangelical Christian scholars.

King James Version (KJV)

The King James Version of the Holy Bible (also known as the Authorized Version) is one of the most important Bible translations ever made in the English language. Although its language is now rather archaic, it was rather controversial in 1611 because it was a translation into the English spoken by the common people at the time, so that all could read and clearly understand what God was saying to us.

The Message (MSG)

Contemporary English words that best express the meaning of the original language.  Paraphrased from the original by selecting language that communicates the style and flavor of the original in Bible times—rather than trying to achieve word-for-word correspondence.

New International Version (NIV)

The New International Version was a produced by a committee of scholars associated with various evangelical churches in America, who began work on the version in 1965. It was not a revision of any previously existing version, but an entirely new translation in idiomatic twentieth-century English. It was conceived as a version that would appeal to evangelicals.

New King James Version (NKJV)

The New King James Version is a revision of the King James version that does not make any alterations on the basis of a revised Greek or Hebrew text, but adheres to the readings presumed to underlie the King James version. The revisers have also sought to follow the principles of translation used in the original King James Version, which the NKJV revisers call "complete equivalence" in contrast to "dynamic equivalence."

New Living Translation (NLT)

The New Living Translation is a simplified version of the Bible. It is based upon the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (1977) and the United Bible Societies' Greek New Testament (fourth revised edition).  The goal of this translation theory is to produce in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent of the message expressed by the original-language text—both in meaning and in style.
